I feel enormously blessed for having this woman, her husband, and their family in my life. They’re an “out-of-the-box” family, which I love! And they’re just as real and genuine as they come. Before you continue reading this post, hop on over to their family session real quick so you can put some faces with names! (There are a few family members missing from those photos: their eldest two daughters, a son-in-law, and two grandbabies.)
Kelly asked me to photograph some head shots for her recently for her new endeavor that she is being called to – public speaking and authoring a book. For years she has been a supporter and mentor for other moms and families in the world of adoption, specifically special-needs adoptions. She and her husband, Bill, have adopted eight children. One of the boys they adopted was so sick at the time of adoption because of his heart defect that he was near death. He was able to receive excellent care and recovered and is very healthy today! They have adopted children with undisclosed special needs. Through the course of their last adoption of two children she fought and won a battle with breast cancer. They’ve witnessed God provide financially and in other ways for them time and time again. Kelly has so much to offer other adoptive parents because they have walked through many trials in their calling to be adoptive parents themselves. She feels very passionate to share with others heading in that direction the truth about adopting – the good, the bad, and the ugly – so that they are more prepared when their children come home and have a support system in place.
Kelly describes her call to adoption as, “feeling unworthy of a call but passionate to obey. (She is) finding out that being in God’s will is the best place to be….EVER.”
