Do you ever feel like you’re falling behind? Like so many other people are flying past you at lightning-fast speed while you’re stuck spinning your wheels in “I Don’t Know What I’m Doing Land”? Me too. I’ve had dreams on my heart and ideas in my head that I’ve tried and they’ve flopped, or that I haven’t dared to take off and run with yet. I know the struggle of feeling the weight of my calling while at the same time being called to stay put for now until the right time.
If you feel like you’re spinning your wheels and striving towards your calling – pause, slow down, quiet your heart and ask God what He has for you in this season. Don’t give up! But give it over to Him. It could be that He’s simply been waiting for you to hand your dreams back over to Him to bless, multiply, and give back to you. It could be that He’s saying, “It’s not yet the right time. I have the PERFECT time planned for you. Trust Me. Stay faithful.” Or it could be that He wants to shift your heart to His way and not your way in your pursuits.
Whether we feel like we are walking in our calling or not, we are right where we are supposed to be. There are seasons in life. Seasons of preparation, seasons of seeds being planted in our hearts, seasons of nurturing what’s growing, seasons of producing fruit, seasons of harvesting, and seasons of rest and growing our roots deeper.
How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked,
Nor stand in the path of sinners,
Nor sit in the seat of scoffers!
But his delight is in the law of the LORD,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water,
Which yields its fruit in its season
And its leaf does not wither;
And in whatever he does, he prospers.
The wicked are not so,
But they are like chaff which the wind drives away.
Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
Nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
For the LORD knows the way of the righteous,
But the way of the wicked will perish.
Psalm 1 (NASB, emphasis added by me)
Whatever season you find yourself in today, I pray that you will not let discouragement overtake you. Cheer your friends on as they step into a new season and experience the growth and change you’re praying for. What God does for one He desires to do for all. Your time is coming. It may be nearer than you think. Be encouraged that you’re right where you’re supposed to be.
