Last Wednesday evening we hosted our annual Pursuit Central Maryland Friends-giving dinner at the Studio On Center Street. It’s such a sweet honor to co-lead this group alongside my dear friend Anna Kerns. As the dinner approached I felt God giving me words to articulate how I’ve been feeling lately. So I saw that I had a few minutes that afternoon and I slipped out to our front porch with my journal. I felt God inviting me to share to our girls what I wrote and I feel led to share them here, too, because there are so many entrepreneurs who struggle with the same things. I hope my words and His words encourage you…

From my journal entry:

Confidence has been a theme for me, especially over the past few weeks and months. I’ve struggled with confidence in God and confidence in myself and the giftings He has uniquely entrusted to me. I’ve doubted His goodness and I’ve shrunk back when He asked me to step out. I’ve let fear and uncertainty win out over faith and love.

I’ve sensed God calling me out and preparing me for a new season in my business and ministry for quite some time now. And now that I’m at the doorstep ready to move into that calling I find myself shrinking back and believing the lies… “You aren’t fit for this. Perhaps it’ll be too hard. God, you’ve got the wrong girl.” As I allow those lies to push me back, I sense a stronger voice pulling me up… “Sweetheart, I don’t make mistakes. You don’t have to do it alone, let me do it through you. Others are counting on you. You’re the open door for My Love and abundant blessings and life to flow through to them. I’ve created you to be a leader, will you step up to the plate?”

“So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded.

You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.  For,

“In just a little while,
he who is coming will come
and will not delay.”

And,

“But my righteous one will live by faith.
And I take no pleasure
in the one who shrinks back.”

But we do not belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed, but to those who have faith and are saved.” – Hebrews 10:35-39 NIV
