My friend Marcie of Celebrating Love by Marcie and I went to the beautiful new Maryland wedding venue, Rockland Estates, last Thursday to meet the owners, Monica and Jeff, and take a tour of the grounds. The house and the grounds are overflowing with elegant vintage and rustic charm! As we were wandering around the property and through the house I couldn’t help but feel like we had stepped back in time to the age of Maryland plantation farming. I imagined what it would have been like to wake up in this beautiful house on a warm summer morning, make my way down the grand staircase, and pour a cup of tea to enjoy while watching the horses and cattle graze in the fields. I’m quite the romantic I guess! Even if you aren’t the romantic type I believe that Rockland Estates will bring out the romantic in you.

The right portion of the house that you see below was originally built in 1803. The larger portion to the left was added on in 1817 to complete the home. Wedding party and family have free range of the 1803 portion. They also have some access to the 1817 portion, but with some stipulations in order to keep this side of the house in excellent condition. The bank barn will be undergoing renovation soon. The interior upper level of the barn will be able to seat 300-350 guests! Upon completion guests have the option of hosting their reception in the barn. Currently, tented receptions in the rear of the home or in front of the barn are an option. Caterers have full access to the renovated milk barn at the entrance so that they have a space to work that is tucked away from all of the wedding guests. Cocktail hour is served on the back lawn overlooking this breathtaking view of the rolling hills. My photos don’t do it justice. The front of the house is a beautiful location to have your ceremony! Upon ceremony completion, guests can make their way through the house (so they can see just how gorgeous it is) through to the back for cocktail hour. This is the “family den” that the immediate family has access to during the wedding day. As you pass through the family den you enter the hallway that leads to the kitchen or stairwell to the second level. The kitchen is amazing! The cabinets are all custom and were made by a previous owner of the estate. This is the sunroom that overlooks the rear views of the estate. The dining room is nothing short of glamorous! This is the grand staircase I spoke of earlier. Amazing! The bride and her ladies have access to this bathroom for the day. This is the bride’s room. If she needs a few moments alone to soak in all of the wonder of her big day, she can close the door and have a few moments alone in this cozy space. I snapped a shot of Marcie and Monica admiring a photo of Rockland Estates prior to all the restoration that Monica and Jeff have done to it. Monica and Jeff completed our tour by showing us some of their plans for growth, restoration, and remodel in the future. I can’t wait to come back to see all the improvements that will be made! Thanks for taking the tour with me! Please go on over to Rockland Estates’ facebook page for updates on bridal shows and photos as they become available. And be on the lookout for a gorgeous styled wedding shoot happening here by some of my friends!! Can’t wait to see how it turns out! Like what you see?
