Happy Easter 2014 to you! We don’t normally dress up this much for holidays with my family, but we had a special reason to this year.
I make a point to visit my grandparents as often as I can. My dad’s parents live very close so it’s super convenient to stop by on my way to or from most errands. One day I was visiting my grandparents and as I walked through the house I noticed that our last family photo had been taken just before I left for Michigan for college in 2009. A lot has happened since then! Not only have we all grown, but we’ve added three new members of the family: My husband, our son, and my sister’s husband. But, most namely for the Myers family, we needed to celebrate my grandfather, Jim, this Easter. My “Pappy” was diagnosed with cancer of the esophagus, liver and surrounding lymph nodes last October. He has been through several rounds of chemo and is nearing the end of the worst of it. Praise God! This Resurrection weekend, our family came together to celebrate the ongoing healing taking place in Pappy’s body by having new family portraits done to rejoice in the fact that he is still here with us!
My family was pretty awesome to indulge me in my color coordination request!
The bell you see here was the old “lunch bell” that my grandmother remembers her mom and grandmother ringing to let the workers know it was meal time. They just had this little patio area put in to showcase something so precious in her childhood memories. Those “little” things can leave quite a legacy for future generations!
A few bloopers just to show that we don’t always take perfect photos. These crack me up!
My little man with his great-pappy. By the grace of God he is doing so well! Doctors say the cancer should be able to be maintained, but, his journey with cancer will never be over in this life short of a miracle to completely wipe it out. If you’d care to, please say a prayer for my Pappy. Our whole family would be grateful!
Little man and my parents looking out the window Easter day at the cows. He’s saying “ooooh!” for “moo”.
Too much running around for the little guy.
